SUNFLOWER is a grocery store and cafeteria in Porto, Portugal.
Selling biologic and gourmet food, SUNFLOWER is an organic and natural brand, with a rustic look and feel.
The discovery stage highlighted both the products’ quality and the brand’s positive and happy personality.
The client, in the first stages of the process, sent me a sketch she made herself. She gave me the freedom to move in that direction or make a different decision. Thanks to the confidence shown and underlined by the client, I was able to take that option into consideration but choose a different path.
I designed a rustic, organic and cheerful identity. The logo merges the brand’s name with a naturally designed sunflower which replaces the letter “o”. Simulating paint-brush strokes, the sunflower is designed to intensify the brand’s positioning and personality.
The imperfect stroke in a serif typography – recreated from Karelle Regular font – merges the rustic concept with the gourmet and quality features. The secondary version, joining only the initial letter “S” with the sunflower mark, allows for a versatile and totally responsive logo.
The identity is also influenced by the color palette – both the primary and the support colors – with earthy, happy and natural colors. The logo’s one-color applications enable a wide number of versions and the custom patterns complement the identity.
